Traitor's Gate, the Tower of London, even in sunlight and today, still retains its sinister appearance.

Both Dereham and Culpepper were found guilty of treason and executed at Tyburn. Dereham suffered the long-drawn-out death, he was hanged, drawn and quartered; Culpepper, because of his closer relationship with the Howards, was simply beheaded; but both their heads were exhibited, on spikes, on Tower Bridge.

Catherine was beheaded within the Tower, at the same place and on the same block as Anne Boleyn. She did not go alone; executed with her was the wife of Anne's brother George, Lady Rochford, who, so few years before, had been the chief instigator of the charge of incest between her husband and her sister-in-law. Now she lost her head because she was accused of conniving at Catherine's acts of infidelity. About her fate there was a kind of rough justice; about Catherine's little of any kind.

Her ghost is said to walk a certain gallery in Hampton Court.
